Young Professional Brunch

Faithful Forum: A Great Host
Sunday, November 17 | 11:15am | Choir Room
St. Paul’s Director of Music, Susan Jane Matthews, traces her life journey of research into sacred choral music by women composers that in the fall of 2020 led to her founding a Great Host team of eight, from diverse spots in the USA and England, to curate a database of choral works for the church year as a resource to church musicians.
Listen to excerpts from the Great Host vinyl, including three commissions funded through the Marcia McCowin estate fund, recorded for the first time by the Choir of St. Paul's. Learn about the lives of women composers included on the recording, from Florence Price and Undine Smith Moore, to contemporary composers Margaret Burk, Melissa Dunphy, and the newly appointed Master of the King's Music, Errollyn Wallen.
A Great Host will be released first as a limited-edition vinyl record in time to purchase for Christmas 2024 gifts, beginning at the 11:15am Advent Festival on Sunday, November 24.

Movie & Discussion: A Plastic Ocean

All are invited to join us for a screening of A Plastic Ocean, an unusual documentary film directed by Craig Leeson.
We may think we understand the urgent problem of pollution and its negative impact on our environment, but this film will show you how little we know. An international team of adventurers, researchers, and ocean cinematographers go on a mission around the world to uncover what is lurking beneath the surface of our seemingly pristine Ocean. The results are shocking...

First-Year College Student
Care Packages | November 10-17
Help us fill care packages to remind our first-year college students of St. Paul’s love and support. The boxes are small, roughly 11 x 8 x 6, so we are looking for small, fun items such as candy, gum, lip balm, post It notes, tissue packs, tea bags, hot chocolate mix, fidget spinners, small puzzles or games. Be creative! Cards will be available to write a note of encouragement. Look for the boxes after church on Nov. 10 and 17.
All Souls' Day: Remembering Our Departed
Sunday, November 10 | 9am prayers, 10am service
9am: Join us in the Columbarium as we pray for those whom we have lost, upheld by prayers, the presence of dear ones, blessings, rituals, and remembrances.
10am: A solemn occasion commemorating our loved ones with Eleanor Daley's Requiem and an offertory of white roses. All are encouraged to bring a photo of a loved one who has died. Photos are placed on a table by the baptismal font.
Donation Drive-Thru Drop Off

Coffee will be served while we welcome The Episcopal Church's new Presiding Bishop, The Rt. Rev. Sean Rowe. The celebration will be livestreamed, and Jocelyn is happy to project the video of his investiture in Higbie Library.
We will also engage in a conversation about the beginning of the ceremony, this moment in the church, and our way of love.

Faithful Forum: Housing in San Mateo County

Audrey & Perry Sakai will reflect on this theme: Journey to the Margins: Reflections on a life transformed by people experiencing poverty. In addition preaching at two of our services, they will also host a conversation following the 10am service. Come to learn and grow together!

Come and cheer on the Choir of St. Paul's as they join with four other N. Peninsula choirs in singing in this 15th annual benefit concert for the LifeMoves homeless ministry. 2024 theme: Show us how to love.
Shining Sunday | Saturday, October 12 | 9am-1pm
The Property Committee invites everyone to spend a few hours with them to make St. Paul's shine brightly this fall! Projects will focus on some general beautification projects, a little kitchen organizing, and Occidental garages cleanup. Nothing too strenuous. Coffee will be provided in the morning.

Blessing of the Animals

Bring your pet to church! They are welcome to stay with you (however is possible) for the service so they can receive a blessing immediately following in Skillings Garden. Let us all share in the delight in every creature God has made!

Liturgical Minister Training

This hands-on workshop will share best practices for leading in worship, with specific group tips for acolyte, lector, intercessor, or Eucharistic ministry roles. Homelessness is solvable. It takes a community working together to create sustainable solutions. Episcopal Community Services of San Francisco partners with neighbors to support homeless and very low-income people in securing the housing, food, and services they need to build stable lives.

Resourcing God's People to be a Whole & Healthy Church Sunday, September 22

Caren Miles has enjoyed more than twenty years of life lessons through helping children and youth find their identities as beloved children of God. She loves that her job ranges from sitting on the floor to read Bible stories with preschoolers to dancing with teenagers through a sea of Bishops at last summer’s Episcopal Youth Event.
In addition to preaching at the 8am and 10am services, Caren will facilitate mandatory training session satisfies all requirements of the “Whole and Healthy Church” diocesan curriculum. Adults who work with youth, children, or vulnerable adults, as well as keyholders, employees, vestries, and volunteer leaders should attend. This is part of the Diocese of California’s comprehensive policy of guidelines and procedures to help churches proactively work in ways that protect beloved community.
